At Josefsplatz there will be the line-up for the opening folklore procession.

7.30 p.m.      

Folklore procession of the Volkstrachtenverein Garmisch with drummers and the traditional Bavarian brass band “Musikkapelle Garmisch” from Josefsplatz through the pedestrian area and via Richard-Strauss-Platz to the festive beer pavilion at Wittelsbacher Park.

8.00 p.m.      

Grand Opening of the 70th Festwoche Garmisch

in the beer pavilion by Garmisch-Partenkirchens mayor Elisabeth Koch, patron of the festival, followed by a traditional festive evening with tributes to members and VIPs including performances of “Musikkapelle Garmisch”, the Volkstrachtenverein’s young talent group as well as traditional folk dances of its “Schuhplattler”, “Lumberjacks” and the so called “Alter Tanz” (historical dance version).

Sunday    July 30, 2022

1.30 p.m.
“Gaujugendtag" at the "Oberländer Trachtenvereinigung" where children and youths of 31 associated regional clubs,traditional drummer groups and Bavarian bands gather. Folklore procession From Josefsplatz through the pedestrian area to the festival pavillion, followed by a festive afernoon with speeches and traditionaldances by all participating associations, afterwards the "Garmischer Plattlamusi" 

8.00 p.m.  
Bavarian Folk Night

in the festive beer pavilion with “Musikkapelle Garmisch”, the Volkstrachtenverein’s young talents group as well as traditional folk dances like its “Schuhplattler”, “Lumberjacks” and the so called “Alter Tanz”.

8.00 p.m. 

Big Strongman Competition “Steinheben”

Traditional stone lifting in 4 weight classes (stone-weight 509 lb) with valuable awards – the competition is accompanied by “Musikkapelle Garmisch” as well as traditional folk dances of the “Schuhplattler”.

Presenter of the evening is Hans-Jörg Vierthaler.

Children’s Afternoon

at the fairground close to the festive beer pavilion.

4.30 p.m.
Guest performance of “Eppisburger Puppetry” in the festive beer pavilion.

At Wittelsbacher Park the festive beer pavilion is open daily from 4.00 p.m. until late night. Your hosts Adlwärth family and staff are looking forward to your visit.
